Lead and mentor the accounting team while maintaining a strong culture within the department and across the cooperative. Responsible for the supervision of accounting functions; including accounts receivable, accounts payable, cash handling, budgeting (capital and operating), fixed assets, payroll and payroll taxes, internal and external financial reporting, oversight of the month-end close process, preparation of audit work papers, property tax renditions, W2s/1099s, and review of tax returns.
Job Dimensions
Internal Responsibility - Provide leadership to the TCEC Accounting team. Reports variances to CFO and other executive team members so that corrective action can be taken, if necessary, or work with the executive team to develop corrective action.
External Responsibility - Demonstrate business communication skills with external auditors, depository bank staff, and financial/customer service software providers.
Principal Accountabilities

Prepare the monthly financial statements and Board of Directors reports.
Manage the month-end close process in the accounting system.
Review and analyze the use of financial systems, budgets, general ledger accounts, W2s, 1099s and updating procedures to ensure accuracy.
Work with all departments to track department budgets.
Assist the CFO/VP, Finance with the preparation of the annual budget.
Prepare and facilitate all functions relating to the annual external audit and preparation of Form 990.
Coordinate and oversee the accounting functions for TCEC non-profit companies.
Learn and maintain administrator functions in accounting software, including department settings and securities.
Read, analyze, and interpret accounting journals, IRS regulations, UP bulletin 1767-B, GASB, FASB, and other professional journals to determine the proper handling of accounting transactions.
Ability to assign work tasks, communicate deadlines, and prioritize and provide detailed instructions to team members.
Minimum Requirements
Education - Bachelor's degree in accounting
Experience - Five to seven years of experience
Certification/License, etc. - CPA and MBA preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities - Must maintain continued education that supports the Cooperative's goals. Ability to demonstrate growth in professional development and critical thinking skills. Knowledge and work experience with Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook and fully integrated computer accounting systems. Must have excellent communication skills, both oral and written, and ability to deal with a variety of internal and external contacts. Ability to stand, and walk; frequently sit, bend, stoop, squat, lift, and carry up to 50 pounds; push and/or pull; reach above shoulder level; and twist; to climb, balance, kneel, crouch.
